The first ever Henley Young Musician began in 2016

About Us

Rotary Club of Henley Bridge

We are a vibrant club committed to community service in the Henley area. For the past 33 years we have organised the Henley Half Marathon and 10K runs. This event raises over £20,000 and all of the money is used to support over 25 local organisations. We recently gave Camp Mohawk £2000 for a new boiler to help with their wonderful work with children with special needs and their families.

Recently with The Henley Music School we have sponsored and organised the Henley Young Musician of the Year Competition.

As well as our commitment to our local community we are part of Rotary International which has with the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation virtually eliminated polio in the world.

Our aim is to be of service to our local community, to have fun and lively conversations

Henley Music School

Henley Music School is a Community Interest Company, founded 8th July 2015, previously set up in 2010 trading as a club benefiting the community on a smaller scale. HMS now provides all forms of music education to children in Henley-on- Thames and surrounding areas.

We currently benefit the community in the following ways:

  • Over 90 children take part in Music School Sundays, which include fun music groups and ensembles involving all instruments.

  • We offer free to school music clubs that take place within the school day, and as after school clubs.

  • We provide curriculum support for the local state schools. Putting on Music introduction and fun days within the schools.

  • Individual music lessons in any instrument, with free loan of instrument for a period of time, until they can either afford it, or have no need of it.

  • We offer subsidies for children who otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford lessons or clubs, offering up to 100% bursaries on fees.

  • Henley Youthful Orchestra is a musical group made up of rusty older musicians who just want to play music, escape  & have fun. Rehearse once a month, pay a subscription.

  • In total over 350 local children take part.

  • We have to fundraise to the tune of £50,000 annually in order to provide this service!
